The Starlit Story Parade – Adur Sea of Lights

This year our parade is celebrating literature! On Saturday 26th November, Lancing will turn into a giant night-time story book. Local schools, community groups and individuals will be taking part, choosing books and designing amazing lanterns inspired by their favourite stories.

You can join in the excitement too. Pick a story you love and create a lantern to bring to the parade. Each year, people make costumes, hats, masks, and all sorts of wonderful things – what can you create? What inspires you?

  • Join us on Facebook to show us your amazing creations.
  • Looking for ideas? Visit our download area (coming soon), join our Facebook page or come along to our creation session (12-3pm, Sat 26 November, Lancing Parish Hall).
  • Want to get your school involved? Find out who the member of staff in charge of it will be and get them to contact us.
  • Need more information about the parade? Click here.

What is your favourite story? Here are some of the stories we have thought of:

  • Roald Dahl: Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, James & the Giant Peach.
  • Julia Donaldson: The Gruffalo, Charlie Cook’s Favourite Book.
  • Traditional Fairy Tales: Goldilocks & the Three Bears, Red Riding Hood.

No events on the field this year – This year’s event has been scaled down to just the parade due to a shortage of volunteers and big life commitments of the main organisers. So there will be no activities on the field this year. We are always looking for volunteers, so if you want to get involved and help us to make the event bigger and better next year, please get in touch! We will still be having our awesome parade though.
